Two mysterious people were in Jirongo's car before crash, family now says

Former Vihiga Senator George Khaniri has disclosed that the family of the late former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has commissioned an independent investigator to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
He insisted that key questions remain unanswered.
Speaking at a memorial service in Goseta village in Trans Nzoia county, Khaniri said preliminary findings by the private investigators raise troubling issues about Jirongo’s final movements and the events leading to the fatal accident.
“The initial report shows that when Jirongo left Karen’s Oasis area in Nairobi, his vehicle was later spotted at Park Place. More significantly, CCTV footage from Naivasha indicates that there were two people seated in the front of Jirongo’s personal vehicle. Unfortunately, the investigators have not been able to identify who they were,” Khaniri said.

The senator said it was disturbing that the same individuals were reportedly not found inside the right-hand-drive vehicle at the time the accident occurred.
“These are not minor details. They are serious questions that must be answered, and I will continue to ask them until the truth is known,” Khaniri said.
Khaniri added that the family, together with Jirongo’s closest friends, is demanding a comprehensive forensic investigation to clearly establish what transpired.
“The family wants to understand, through science and facts, exactly what happened to CJ,” Khaniri said.
Calling for a detailed forensic examination, Khaniri noted that, from a layman’s perspective, some of the injuries observed did not appear consistent with the reported accident.
“The legs were broken, but other parts of the body appeared intact,” he said, emphasizing that only professional forensic analysis could offer credible conclusions.
He vowed to pursue the matter to its logical end.
“This process must be concluded and brought to fruition. I will fight to ensure that Jirongo’s family gets justice,” Khaniri said.
Former Webuye MP Joash Wafula Mang’oli also paid tribute to Jirongo, describing him as a uniquely influential leader.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli assured the public that the government is conducting an exhaustive investigation.
“A forensic investigation is already underway. No stone will be left unturned. He cautioned against speculation, adding, Technology will not lie. We will continue with in-depth investigations until we establish the facts.” Masengeli said.
