The campaign for President William Ruto’s re-election took centre stage during a women empowerment programme presided over by the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in Homa Bay County.
Kindiki graced the occasion for empowering 10,000 women financially at Sikri in Kasipul Constituency on Friday.
The Deputy President and leaders supporting Ruto’s government took advantage of the opportunity to drum up support for his re-election.
Kindiki said Ruto is the best presidential candidate in the election. He criticised Opposition leaders, saying they lacked ideas that could help Kenyans.
“When 2027 comes, every leader will show what they have done for Kenyans. These projects make President Ruto the best candidate,” Kindiki said.

He told leaders to shun divisive politics.
“Let us focus on politics that unite this country,” Prof Kindiki said.
The DP challenged leaders to use the opportunities they have to empower citizens.
He said leaders from the ODM party had agreed to support the Kenya Kwanza government.
“I call on every leader supporting the broad-based government that we should work as a team to develop this country,” Prof Kindiki said.
ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said they will continue working with the Kenya Kwanza Government.
Wanga said it is through such a political partnership that the people of the Nyanza region can acquire development.
The Senate Majority leader, Aaron Cheruiyot, said the death of Odinga will not dilute the ODM strength.
Instead, he said the party will become even stronger.
Cheruiyot said the allegations that Odinga’s death will make ODM to move to the opposition are false.
“We agreed to work together to ensure the lake region grows. ODM will also be in the next government,” Cheruiyot said.
He said that both UDA and ODM will continue engaging Kenyans on their next political move as Odinga used to do.
