Man abducted in Timau freed after 3 months, LSK says

Simon Muteti, the man who was allegedly abducted three months ago has been found alive, Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo says.
In a statement on Tuesday, Odhiambo confirmed that Mueti had been freed after three months in captivity and reunited with family.
“Mr. Simon Muteti has been released after being held incommunicado for more than 3 months. He is safe with his family but remains petrified by his ordeal. We will extend the necessary legal and psychosocial support to him and the family,” stated Odhiambo.
According to LSK, Muteti was allegedly abducted by members of the Special Operations Unit in Timau Laikipia on October 22, 2024.
The family has visited Odhiambo at the LSK offices to seek legal aid.

“This troubling case underscores an alarming trend of enforced disappearances not only in urban centers like Nairobi but across the country,” said LSK.
LSK vowed to intensify efforts to provide legal aid, support affected families in a fight for abductions wave.
Meanwhile, another family from Garsen also visited the LSK offices on January 30, to report that their kin who had been taken into custody at Garsen Police Station went missing on October 5, 2024.
