KCB’s push to challenge for the 2024-2025 FKF Premier League title suffered a serious setback Saturday after the bankers went down 2-0 to ten-man Sofapaka in a tough encounter hosted at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos County.

Jack Onganya and Edward Omondi found the back of the net for Sofapaka who despite being reduced to 10-men still went home with maximum points.

Onganya gave Batoto ba Mungu a narrow 1-0 halftime lead after scoring in the 36th minute before being reduced to a man less in the 67th minute when Charles Melubo was given his marching orders.

The 2009 champions doubled their lead five minutes after their setback to make it 2-0 through Omondi.

Gor, the defending champions, will face off against and Tusker on Sunday in a top-of-the-table affair in Machakos.

The two teams are separated by four points, with Tusker ahead of K’Ogalo who are currently riding high on their new tactician Sinisa Mihic.

Other results saw Ulinzi Stars come from a goal down edge Murang’a SEAL 2-1. Joe Waithira gave SEAL a narrow 1-0 lead before Boniface Muchiri and Brian Birgen scored in the final half for the soldiers.

Peter Maker and Kayci Odhiambo on the other hand were on target for AFC Leopards who closed in on the table toppers after a 2-1 win over Mara Sugar.

The win lifted Ingwe to fourth with 33 points. FC Talanta also thrashed Bandari 3-2 at their own back yard in Mombasa to move out of the relegation zone.

In the second match in Machakos, Mohammed Bajaber scored in his debut for Kenya Police as the law enforcers saw off Bidco United 2-0 to go three points clear at the summit.
