Magero, who scored 65 points, outperformed a competitive field to claim the prestigious title in a tournament dedicated to celebrating women's excellence in sports and society.

The tournament featured several categories, with golfers demonstrating impressive performances across the board.

In the Division 1 & 2 Combined Men’s category, Maurice Oduor clinched the top spot with 66 points, while Nishal Shah (70 points) and S. Amusala (70 points) secured the first and second runners-up positions, respectively.

The Division 1 & 2 Ladies’ category saw Conslate Achieng claim victory with 70 points. Tabitha Ojwang and Lina Akello tied as the first and second runners-up, each scoring 75 points.

In the Division 3 Men’s category, Daniel Nyerere emerged victorious with 66 points, while Hellen Muma took home the Division 3 Ladies’ title with 67 points.

The Senior category was fiercely contested, with Clifford Agumbi proving his experience and skill by securing the win with 66 points.

The event was not just about golf—it also served as a platform to empower women through critical discussions on maternal health, financial literacy, gender-based violence, and social well-being.

Dr Lina Akello, the Lady Captain of Nyanza Golf Club and a consultant psychiatrist, emphasized the importance of work-life balance through golf. “Golf is more than a sport; it is a way to build networks, maintain physical health, and relieve stress. Women should embrace such activities to enhance their overall well-being,” she noted.

Dr Lawrence Sikuku, a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu, stressed the importance of maintaining good health. “Your first resource is your health—both physically and mentally. When you are in good health, you have the stamina and energy to work towards your goals,” he stated.

Prof. Hazel Miseda, the Vice-Chancellor of Great Lakes University, spoke on women's leadership and representation in professional spaces. “As a woman, when you get to leadership spaces, you must take them seriously. Perform exceptionally well and let your work speak for you,” she encouraged.

Tabith Ojwang, the Safeguarding Officer at Make Me Smile Kenya, addressed the importance of educating both men and women on gender-based violence and coexistence. “We must continue educating society on the need for peaceful co-existence and raise awareness about sexual exploitation. Ignorance is not an excuse,” she warned.

On financial matters, Conslate Achieng highlighted the importance of financial literacy, stating, “Women need structured business plans, proper financial planning, and smart payment methods to succeed in their ventures.”

Carol Adhiambo, Managing Director of Green Wells, spoke on the significance of having a strong support system. “A good partner and a strong foundation in faith play a key role in achieving personal and professional success,” she emphasized.

Ruth Kimotho, the Director of Nyanza Beauty Cosmics, shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey, saying, “Success does not come overnight. I started from a small kiosk, and through perseverance, I built a thriving business. Have a vision, identify problems, create solutions, and keep moving forward.”
