The Brickwoods Schools - Nanyuki had a smooth sail to victory during the Mount Kenya Inter Schools Swimming Championships at the Brickwoods Aqua Centre, in Nanyuki over the weekend.
The meet saw seven teams compete for top honours. The teams were Braeburn Schools - Nanyuki, Mount Kenya Academy, Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy, Likii Hill School, Rware Swimming Club and Golden Dolphins Swimming Academy.
It was a day filled with great display of skill and sportsmanship from the over 200 contestants who recorded a great improvement from last year's event.
It was sweet victory as the host swimming team, christened the 'Dolphins', prevailed over Braeburn. The home team fielded contestants in almost all age groups and a large number of entries presented them with a cumulative point advantage over the rest of the pack.
They also had a great showing in the 8-9-year-old, 10-11, 12-13 as well as 14 years and over.

The parents who accompanied their children to the gala seemed to have changed their view of the sport and appreciated it as a competitive one with a promising future.
"As stakeholders within this region, we would like to provide swimmers with a platform where they'll better their times," said Brickwoods Schools Director, Francis Mathenge.
"We are at an advanced stage with other like-minded people to form the Mount Kenya Swimming Championship."
