Mbarire drops key officials in major cabinet reshuffle

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has reshuffled her cabinet in a bid to regain control and bolster her political position.

The immediate changes saw the dismissal of Florence Musyoka, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water.

Raymond Kinyua, the CECM for Lands, Mining, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Planning, will assume the additional responsibility of acting CECM for Water, Irrigation, Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources.

In memos to CECMs and Chief Officers on Thursday, January 30, Mbarire announced the reshuffle, which she said was aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring smooth county government operations.

The County Secretary, overseeing public service, has been tasked with managing the transition.

Several Chief Officers also lost their positions, including Pithon Muchoki, Chief Officer for Livestock, who learned of his dismissal while on official duty in Makima.

Muchoki shared the news on his Facebook page: ‘Tuko hapa Makima na waziri wangu giving out Galla goats to the locals. While I was away?’

Ephantus Mugendi, Dan Bongo, and Jane Karimi were also let go, while John Ngeche, Chief Officer for Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, had his resignation accepted.
