Leadership, economy under prayer spotlight in major Nairobi gathering

Kenya's economy and leadership will be the focus this week as religious leaders and believers meet in Nairobi for a three-day prayer gathering starting, Thursday, February 13.

 The gathering organised by the Repentance Revival Movement seeks divine intervention for the nation’s governance and economic challenges.

Australian pastor Robert Clancy leading the event at Kenyatta International Convention Centre said the conference calls on Christians to stand in the gap for the country's future.

 He urged believers to speak blessings over Kenya rather than dwell on its struggles.

“The future of this nation is in the mouth of every believer. God is speaking to the Church and He wants to raise up people to intercede for the nation's future,” he noted.

He observed that governance is not solely about the relationship between leaders and citizens but also about maintaining a connection with God. Citing Isaiah 1 and Ezekiel 22:30 he added that transformation comes when people turn to prayer.

“‘If you take care of the poor, the widows and the oppressed I will bless you,’ God told the prophet Isaiah. Kenya's situation can improve if both leaders and citizens seek divine guidance,” he explained.

The event open to the public will feature prayer sessions addressing national concerns including governance and economic struggles.

 The gathering comes as Kenya faces financial pressures with Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi recently outlining plans to stabilise the economy and manage debt.
