President William Ruto on Tuesday, November 12, announced several appointments to fill vacancies in constitutional commissions and state agencies.

Ruto nominated Sammy Chepkwony as chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), to succeed Lyn Mengich, whose six-year term ended.

Chepkwony, a human resources professional with over 30 years of experience in HR and organisational development, currently serves as Managing Director and CEO of People Centric Management Limited.

If approved, Chepkwony will work alongside nominated SRC members Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Martin Kizito, Mohamed Abdi, Dr. Gilda Odeya, Jane Njage, Leonid Ashindu, and Geoffrey Omondi.

In other appointments, former Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa has been nominated as chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).

Jaldesa, who served three terms in the 12th Parliament, previously held leadership positions at the Kenya Industrial Estates Board and Ewaso Nyiro North Development Board.

She will be assisted by Michael Nzomo, who has been nominated as a commissioner, representing the Persons with Disabilities section.

Additionally, President Ruto nominated Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

If confirmed, Arita will succeed Sheila M'mbijiwe, who retired in June.

Nyaoma, the outgoing Director of the Bank Supervision Department at CBK, brings 36 years of professional experience, having held multiple roles within the institution.

All the nominations are subject to approval by the National Assembly.
