They dropped me in Luanda at 3-4 a.m., says cartoonist Kibet Bull

Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, alias "Kibet Bull," has confirmed his release after being abducted by suspected state agents.

Kibet said he was dropped off in Luanda, Vihiga County, early Monday, January 6.

“They dropped me in Luanda Vihiga at 3-4 a.m. Leo. Sikuwa najua where to enter or book a room. Kidogo form ya Disco Matanga came in, danced mpaka 6 a.m. when I went to book a ticket,” said Kibet on his social media account.

His release comes as others reported missing under similar circumstances have also resurfaced.

Bernard Kavuli Musyimi, who vanished from Ngong' Police Station, returned to Moi's Bridge Police Station, where he is assisting investigators.

Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti were reunited with their families in Embu and Nairobi, respectively, after more than two weeks in captivity.

Mwangi, 24, was reportedly abandoned in Nyeri before returning to his home in Majengo, Embu.

His family noted he appeared frail and was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up.

Mwangi’s father, Gerald Karicha, said his son had been under surveillance for days before hooded men abducted him from a barbershop in Embu town.

The family believes his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration may have led to his abduction.

Muteti, who was taken on December 21, 2024, outside an apartment in Nairobi, was found in the Nairobi Central Business District on Monday.

Rony Kiplangat, abducted from Thogoto Police Post, was located in Machakos County.

At the same time, other individuals, including Steve Mbisi, remain unaccounted for.

The National Police Service has denied involvement in the recent spate of abductions.

Spokesperson Resila Onyango, in a statement on Monday, said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is handling the cases, some of which are pending court proceedings.

“We remain committed to ensuring these cases are thoroughly investigated, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable,” said Onyango.

She urged the public to provide information to aid ongoing investigations.
