Justus Mutumwa, one of the missing Mlolongo men has been found dead.

Family lawyer Dan Maanzo said Mutumwa’s body was discovered in Ruai on Wednesday night and moved to City Mortuary, Nairobi.

“The family has confirmed that the body found in Ruia yesterday evening is indeed that of their kin, Justus Mutumwa,” said Maanzo.

The news comes just after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja denied that the three, Kalani Muema, Justus Mutumwa, and Martin Mwau are in police custody.

Appearing before Justice Chacha Mwita, Kanja insisted that the three men were not being held in any police station, contrary to claims by petitioners.

Kanja defended himself against accusations of defying court orders, despite being summoned multiple times without appearing.

Muema, Mutua, and Mwai were abducted in December 2024, by individuals believed to be police officers.

The court was informed that Mutuma and Mwau were riding a motorcycle, registration number KMGM 618R, on their way to Kitui for a business trip when they were ambushed, on December 17.

Paul Wachira, Deputy Director of the Investigations Bureau, told the court that after the three were reported missing, two files were opened at the Athi River and Mlolongo Police Stations.

The police also circulated a missing person’s report to confirm whether the individuals had been arrested.

Investigators visited the locations where the reports were filed, interviewed persons of interest, and recorded statements.
