A painter in Nairobi is facing a charge of causing grievous harm to the estranged husband of his lover.

Livingstone Wafula appeared before Makadara Law Courts where he was granted a cash bail of Sh100,000 or an alternative bond of Sh200,000 with similar surety following a plea of not guilty.

The court heard that Wafula caused life threatening injuries to David Kamau on August 11 by throwing him off a steep cliff along Thika Road at Roasters area in Kasarani.

The woman at the centre of the fight is reported to have been initially married to Kamau before leaving the marriage and starting a new relationship with Wafula something which created a rift between the two men.

After some time, the woman left Wafula and went back to Kamau, a decision which angered the former.

That evening, Wafula met with the woman on the road and as they were talking, Kamau walked by.

Even though he saw the two, Kamu walked past them without talking to any of them.

Wafula, who was unhappy that Kamau was the reason that the woman had refused to be with him on full time basis, decided to settle the matter physically with his rival.

He went after him and as soon as he caught up with the complainant, he grabbed by him by the scruff of the neck and threw him off a steep cliff making him fall on the busy Thika highway and was almost overran by vehicles.

Although he was lucky not to be runover my speeding vehicles, Kamau however sustained multiple fractures on his body and limbs.

Members of the public rushed to his rescue and a Good Samaritan took him to hospital.

He later reported the incident to the police and Wafula was arrested and charged.

The case is coming up for hearing on February 10, 2026.
