After six long months of re-energising and maybe rehearsing, President William Ruto dusted his hiking boots and literally scaled the mighty Mt Kenya last week.
At the base of the mountain, he held a briefing with scribes explaining the mission, his love for climbing the mountain despite the (perceived?) obstacles, how he had cleared the expected minor hurdles to the hike by removing the real obstacles, which made him the undisputed mountaineer.
To show the high regard he accorded the mission, the President was accompanied and cheered throughout the tour by all shades of politicians, crowds of women in nyakinyua and choir uniforms, the nduthi men and practically all sections of the country’s security forces, including the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja. The IG was even given the honour to greet his fellow Nyerians and delightedly went vernacular.
