Four Kenya Kwanza MPs, led by Kimani Ichung’wah have moved to the Court of Appeal seeking to suspend the implementation of the High Court’s decision which found that the Azimio la Umoja Coalition as the majority party in Parliament.

Ichung’wah, alongside MPs Owen Baya, Sylvanus Osoro, and Naomi Wako, argue that the High Court’s decision, if not stayed will cripple the operations of the National Assembly affecting its ability to discharge its constitutional mandate.

“The applicants hold leadership positions reserved for the majority party in the National Assembly which are key and crucial. Therefore, without majority leadership, the operations of the National Assembly will be effectively halted making the operations of the House critically affected,” the MPs state in their court papers.
