A woman linked to the murder of her two daughters aged 12 and 9 has been arrested.

Area Chief Lenny Kirui said the mother of five was arrested on Tuesday evening by homicide detectives who exhumed the two bodies from a shallow grave within her compound.

Kirui said police have launched a manhunt for the man suspected to be her collaborator in the crime.

According to the Chief, the two bodies were secretly buried in a shallow grave at the woman’s Nyatembe village home in Sotik.

The woman who was cohabiting with a man believed to be her collaborator had gone missing for two weeks before neighbours discovered the shallow grave in a tea plantation next to the home.

The residents sought a court redress which granted orders allowing the exhumation.

The woman was taken to police custody at Sotik Police Station as the bodies were moved to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary.
