The body of an unidentified person has been discovered in Lake Nakuru.
The body was taken to the Nakuru County mortuary as police investigate the matter.
Nakuru West sub-county commander Anderson Njagi confirmed that an unidentified body had been spotted inside the Lake Nakuru National Park in the Barut area.
The body was found by a group of fishermen who called the police.
They also informed the family of Brian Odhiambo who went missing after he was arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service Officers in January.
Odhiambo’s mother, Elizabeth Auma, who was hopeful that she had finally found her missing son’s body, said the body was not that of her son.
“I was in town when I received a call that some fishermen had identified a body inside the Lake while they were fishing, I quickly boarded a motorbike to Nakuru West, Mwariki expecting to receive my son’s body,” said Auma.
Odhiambo’s wife, Ivy Akello was devastated after realizing it was not him.
David Kuria from the Human Rights Defender and a representative of the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) said the body had physical injuries on the head with fresh blood oozing from the face.
