A section of Kajiado residents has opposed Senator Ledama Ole Kina’s planned bull distribution event.

Several youths and the Maa Council of Elders leaders and residents are opposing the event, saying it will be a provocative mission that is meant to advance the ‘selfish political ends’ of some persons close to President William Ruto.

Senator Ole Kina had on his X account (formerly Twitter) indicated that he will criss cross the county on a mission to distribute bulls to over 10 youth groups in line with his empowerment plan.

“It’s time to change our future as a community, we must end poverty! April 3rd 2025, is the beginning of an economic revolution for the Maa youth...,” Ole Kina posted on his account.

The plan has, however, ignited tension between his supporters and Governor Joseph Ole Lenku with those of Senator Samuel Seki ganging to oppose any political activity in Sajiloni area.

Ole Kina said he has already mobilized over 10, 000 youths that would benefit from the bull donation to venture into the livestock breeding business.

But led by the Council of Elders Chairman Richard Oloitipitip, a section of the residents said Ledama's political activities in Kajiado are a provocative mission.

" We know the President. No one will purport to take us to him. We are very apprehensive at someone playing clan politics by telling us that we shall get to the President through him. We have a structured system of elected leaders whom we trust with guiding our people," said Oloitipitip.

Efforts to get the senator’s reaction to the sentiments of the elders bore no fruit as his phone went unanswered.

In recent days, President William Ruto and his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, have been embroiled in a fierce battle for control of politics in Kajiado County.

The President's camp seems alarmed by a wave of defections towards Gachagua, who is fighting hard to wrestle to his side more than 460,000 voters in the cosmopolitan county.

The former Deputy President last Monday held a meeting with a section of leaders from the county, in what was considered as a strategy of laying the foundation ahead of 2027.

According to Daniel Kachori, former Olosirkon Shoringe Ward MCA, who attended the meeting held at Wamunyoro farm in Nyeri County, the meeting was just the start and will be followed by a series of similar gatherings.

Before the dust could settle, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki convened a meeting attended by a section of elected and opinion leaders from Kajiado at his Karen residence.

The Kindiki meeting came hot on the heels of an onslaught by Senator Samuel Seki and Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo both of UDA who have directed their anger against Dr Ruto and State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito.

The delegation was led by Woman Representative Leah Sankaire and Speaker Justus Ngossor, both allies of Metito. Other prominent leaders were Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai and his Kajiado Central Elijah Memusi.

Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, Seki, Ngogoyo and Kajiado South MP Samuel Parashina were not invited.
