Military officer held for 14 days after fleeing scene of girlfriend's death in Kitengela

The Military officer arrested following the death of a girlfriend in Kitengela Kajiado County will remain in custody for another two weeks.

Fredrick Mwazughwa Mwalungwa who is based at Kahawa Garison Defense forces was arraigned at Kajiado law courts with a miscellaneous application of custodial orders.

The court granted 14 days to allow the prosecution more time to investigate.

At the same time, a post-mortem that was conducted Monday revealed that the deceased died of a blood clot.

The postmortem report seen by The Standard indicated that the body had a blockage in the lung artery due to a blood clot.

Two Pathologists one for the family and the suspect performed the exercise at the Shalom Community Hospital and indicated that the cause of death was determined as Pulmonary Thromboembolism, a condition that causes blood clotting.

On Saturday last week, the suspect visited her girlfriend’s house at an apartment in Kitengela town where they are said to have a sexual intercourse.

However, after having fun, the woman who is now deceased became unconscious and developed difficulty in breathing.

Led by the Kitengela Police boss Joel Munyalo, officers visited the apartment and later the scene at the hospital.

The body was later transferred to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary.

Isinya Sub County police boss Patrick Manyasi who confirmed the incident told The Standard on phone that the officer raised alarm and the caretaker responded.

''They requested one of the tenants to assist with his car to carry the deceased to St.Paul’s Hospital Kitengela where she was pronounced dead on arrival," said Manyasi.

On arrival to the hospital, and realising that the woman was dead, the nurses advised the two who brought the body to report the case at the police station.

The driver claimed he was going to call for someone to assist them, a few minutes later the military officer ran away and jumped over the gate of the hospital.

Manyasi said the officer later went back to the barracks where he reported the matter.  He was detained in the guardroom and escorted back to Kitengela police station where he was questioned by the DCI officers and later detained.
