Kabras Sugar booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Kakamega Sevens with a game to spare after dominating their preliminary matches at Kakamega Showgrounds on Saturday.
Fresh from winning Christie Sevens, the opening leg of the 2024 National Sevens Circuit, the sugar men showcased their dominance by whitewashing Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 31-5 in their first Group A match.
A Western Derby followed where Kabras pitted alongside Western Bulls emerged top once again after a 34-0 victory with Griffins Chao dotting a first half hat-trick.
Speaking after the win, Kabras Sugar coach Felix Khayange said they have turned their focus to the knock out stages beginning on Sunday.
Khayange emphasized on team work and match at a time game plan.
“We showed our quality during the Christie Sevens and today again the boys came to play. We want to win everything and it starts with the group stages.
“It’s a game at a time for us and the first final for us is the quarterfinals tomorrow,” said the former Kenya Sevens star.
Other results saw Masinde Muliro University hammer Western Bulls 46-0, Nondies edge out Mwamba 21-5 while Kenya Harlequin see off Daystar Falcons 34-7.
