Nairobi is set to host the highly anticipated eLigue1Tour Grand Finale on March 28, 2025, at Charter Hall, marking the fourth edition of the international esports tournament in Kenya.
The competition, organized in partnership with French Ligue 1, will see top gamers battle it out on PlayStation 5’s EA FC 25, using only Ligue 1 teams, with the ultimate winner securing a trip to Paris, France.
This year’s edition attracted 716 participants, who competed in the knockout rounds on March 8 at BBS Mall in Eastleigh.
The top seven players from the qualifiers will now face defending champion Eric “Demon” Ngige, who has dominated the tournament, winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024.
The list of finalists includes Sam Carter, Collo Gamer, Prorate, Deto, Harry Kappa, Haruun Haruun, and Jojo Depay, alongside Demon.
In an exciting development, the tournament will also feature a ladies’ final, showcasing the top four female gamers: Brillian Nekesa, Shirley Ndirangu, Shantel Wanjiru, and Bernice Wanjiku.
Organizers are expecting a record 2,000 fans to attend this year’s event, a significant increase from the 500 spectators at last year’s edition held at Zetech University.
Tournament President Ronny Lusigi expressed excitement over the event’s growth, crediting the Nairobi County Government for supporting the move to a larger venue.
He also confirmed the presence of dignitaries, including the French Ambassador to Kenya, the Nairobi Governor, and Ministry of Sports officials.
“This year edition has been bigger than all of them. We are happy to have the support of Nairobi County Government to move the event to a bigger venue; the charter hall. The huge participation numbers are also a testament to how far we have grown.
“We are expecting 2000 fans and we will also be having dignitaries in attendance from the French Ambassador to Kenya, to Nairobi Governor and Deputy Governor and also Ministry of Sports officials,” said Lusigi.
With elite gaming talent set to battle for supremacy, the eLigue1Tour Grand Finale promises to be the biggest esports event in Kenya yet.
