Several injured in Kamandura crash, heavy traffic jam builds up

Seven people were seriously injured on Thursday morning, December 22, when a lorry rammed the side of a matatu they were travelling in at Kamandura on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The lorry was transporting sawdust towards Nairobi, while the 14-seater matatu was heading to Limuru from Kikuyu.

The driver of the matatu was among the seven who sustained serious injuries.

Following the 11am accident, a heavy traffic snarl-up was witnessed on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, with Muguga and Ngarariga areas badly affected.

It is reported that one of the vehicles was overtaking dangerously when the crash occurred.

The victims were taken to various hospitals in Kiambu County, including Tigoni Level 4 Hospital, police said.
