Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has accused her political rivals of orchestrating a summon by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), claiming it is a plot to stop her from attending President William Ruto’s tour of Kiambu on Saturday.
Speaking to The Saturday Standard by phone, Wamuchomba distanced herself from anti-Ruto chants witnessed during her visit to the constituency on Friday.
"Mimi nilikuwa nimeenda kufanya kazi yangu, mimi ni Mbunge. So I carrying out my constitutional duties. It is a way of intimidating me from going to the stadium," she claimed.
Wamuchomba was summoned to appear before DCI officers on Saturday, April 5, at their Kiambu Road headquarters.
However, she told The Saturday Standard she would not honour the summons.
Her remarks come as President Ruto is scheduled to conclude his tour of the Central Region with a visit to Kiambu later today.
Wamuchomba, a close ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has been a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
