AFC Leopards edged out Mara Sugar 2-1 to cut leaders Gor Mahia’s lead to six points in a tight SportPesa Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.

The result leaves Ingwe second but with 58 points, six behind Gor Mahia, who will be playing defending champions Kenya Police today at the same venue.

Hassan Beja gave Ingwe the lead in the 13th minute before Drona Openda restored parity for the visitors at the half-hour mark, with the scores tied 1-1 at the break.

In the final half, Victor Omune scored the winner in the 61st minute to help Leopards secure maximum points.

Ingwe will be praying Gor drops points against Police for them to be able to close in, especially with four matches left until the end of the 2025-2026 season.

In Kisii, Shabana were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation-fighting Ulinzi Stars at Gusii Stadium.

The stalemate left the soldiers two points above the danger zone with 32 points and 15th on the log. However, Kariobangi Sharks, who play today against Nairobi United at Police Sacco Stadium from 2 pm, will move above them if they win.

Action resumes today, where Mathare United host APS Bomet in a key survival clash at Kasarani Annex. Mathare are 12th with 35 points, while APS Bomet sit just one point behind in 13th. A win for either side would provide breathing space heading into the final rounds.

At Wang’uru Stadium, Tusker face struggling Bidco United. Bidco are second from bottom with 24 points and desperately need victories to avoid joining already relegated Sofapaka in the drop zone.

Murang'a Seal hosts Kakamega Homeboyz while KCB takes on Bandari in matches that could influence the race for top-half positions.
