Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah and his Minority counterpart Junet Mohamed challenge authorities to arrest those misusing the internet in line with the provisions of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act 2018.

Speaking in Mukhweya, Bungoma during the funeral of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula's mother, Ichungwah and Junet

"We have the freedom of speech but everyone should be held responsible if they misuse or abuse these Constitutional rights," Junet stated.

On his part, Ichungwah warned that some of the abduction cases are being exaggerated for political gains.

"We have seen others alleging that they have been kidnapped and abducted. They should also be dealt with by the authorities. These are crimes in the law of the land and should not be used for political expediency, he stated.

At the same time, the Majority Leader challenged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to make public any arrests of those who have contravened the laws and present them before a court of law.

"I also urge the youths to respect leaders, you might not like someone but don't take your hatred to social media and abuse the online space," he stated.

Ichungwah also called on politicians to stop seeking public sympathy by alleging that they had been abducted or kidnapped. He said that those who allege having been abducted should as well be arrested and face the law.

Their sentiments come at a time when the DCI and police authorities continue to get ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/national/article/2001508655/judiciary-raises-alarm-over-wave-of-abductions">backlash< from various quarters calling on putting to an end the escalating cases of abductions.
