Hotels fully booked as CS Mvurya upbeat on rally

The CS for Sports Salim Mvurya has exuded confidence that this year’s edition of World Rally Championship (WRC) will be a success.

Hours into the global event, the CS noted that the number of international visitors ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/sports/article/2001514225/all-set-for-safari-rally-as-100000-fans-expected">had shot up< with hotels recording full bookings.

Addressing the press at the Service Park in Naivasha, Mvurya said that the rally had given business opportunities to tens of local youths and traders.

The CS said that all the necessary measures had been put in place ahead of the event that kicks off in Nairobi and set to be flagged off by the President.

“We are all set for the rally and all plans are ready for this event that has attracted hundreds of local and international visitors,” he said.

While urging locals to turn up in large numbers, Mvurya said that safety and security measures had been addressed in Naivasha town and routes that the rally cars would be using.

He added that the organizers of the event had looped in local youths and traders to ensure that they benefited through jobs and business opportunities.

“We have set up business villages for entrepreneurs while most of the hotels are already fully booked ahead of this great event,” he said.

Speaking after attending the ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/motorsport/article/2001514259/wrc-2025-safari-rally-shakedown-in-pictures">shakedown in Gilgil<, the CS termed the rally as challenging and fun with the number of visitors expected to rise by the weekend.

“We have ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/motorsport/article/2001514204/driver-kavisi-makes-first-arc-attempt-at-wrc-safari-rally">supported local drivers<, mainly women and the government is keen to support and promote local talent in such events,” he said.

On his part, the CEO of WRC Kenya Charles Gacheru said that all roads that the rally would use were ready and the safety measures put in place.

He said that the organizers had introduced new challenging routes adding that they were working closely with Kengen and KWS as most of the routes were located in Hellsgate National Park.

On entertainment and business, Gacheru added that the Morendat rally village would host tens of local artists, revelers and rally drivers.

“Everything is all set for this global event and we are asking the fans to obey traffic rules, keep off rally routes and come in hordes to celebrate this event,” he said.
