KCB seek redemption at Christie Sevens

KCB RFC will be looking to bounce back when they take to the field for the Christie Sevens on August 16–17 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
The bankers, coached by Denis ‘Ironman’ Mwanja, finished second at the Prinsloo Sevens last weekend after a 07–24 defeat to Strathmore Leos in a lively final.
It was their second straight appearance in a final this season, but they are still chasing their first title.
“We gave it our all, but Strathmore were clinical in their execution. We have picked valuable lessons from Prinsloo, and now the focus is on sharpening our game as we head into Christie Sevens,” said Mwanja.
On their way to the Prinsloo final, KCB beat Kabras Sugar 17–5 in the quarter-finals before edging out Menengai Oilers 10–5 in a tense semi-final.

KCB captain Bob Muhati praised his team’s fighting spirit, saying: “The boys showed great character and resilience throughout the tournament. We are building momentum, and the hunger to lift a trophy this season is stronger than ever.”
The team will welcome back Kenyan international George ‘Japolo’ Ooro, who has recovered from muscle cramps and is ready to play.
However, they will miss backliner Lionel Ajeliti, sidelined with a shoulder dislocation, while Steven ‘Zola’ Osumba could make a return for the Christie leg.
After the Christie Sevens, the National Sevens Circuit will head to Embu on August 23–24, before wrapping up in September with the Kabeberi Sevens in Nairobi and the Dala Sevens in Kisumu.
For KCB, the Christie Sevens will be more than just another tournament—it’s a chance to turn promise into silverware.
