Why the Supreme Court overturned a 30-year life sentence

The Supreme Court has pointed out a grave inaction by Parliament on a law meant to give prisoners jailed for life a second chance in life.

At the same time, the apex court reversed a landmark declaration by the Court of Appeal that  a life sentence should be 30 years in two separate cases involving Evans Nyamari Ayako and Julius Kitsao Manyeso.
