East Africa and national champions Nyamira Girls displayed their dominance once again by successfully defending their Nyanza Region Secondary School hockey girls title.
The multiple time Siaya County champions overwhelmed Migori's Ageng’a Mixed Secondary School with a resounding 4-1 victory.
Goals from Amanda Wamalwa, Laureen Auma, Mercy Dawo, and Stephaine Seba sealed the win for Nyamira Girls, who are now gearing up to defend their title in Machakos next month.
Nyamira captain Jacinta Opondo expressed confidence in her team's ability to perform at the nationals, stating, "We are focused and determined to maintain our winning streak and make our school proud."
In the boys' hockey category, favorites Kisumu Day High School suffered a setback as they were defeated 1-0 in post-match penalties by Ringa Boys from Homa Bay County.
The intense match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time before Ringa Boys emerged victorious in the penalty shootout. With this triumph, Ringa Boys were crowned the new champions and will represent the region at the nationals.
