NIS officer among 15 suspects charged with murder

An officer attached to the National Intelligence Service is among 15 officers who have pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
The fifteen include an intelligence officer, a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) warden and 13 police officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) under the now disbanded Special Service Unit (SSU) wing.
Appearing before Lady Justice Abigael Mshila, the suspects were charged with the murder of two Indian nationals; Mohammed Zaid Sami Kidwali and Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, together with Nicodemus Mwania Mwange, a Kenyan driver.
Kiambu High Court was told that on the night of July 22 and 23 of 2022, the accused abducted and killed three people.

Court documents indicate that the incident happened near Ole Sereni hotel on Mombasa Road within Nairobi County.
The suspects are Peter Muthee Gachik- a Chief Inspector of Police, James Kibosek, (Inspector of Police) Joseph Kamau Mbugua, David Chepchieng, Joseph Mwenda, John Mwangi, and Hillary Limo (Corporals) plus Stephen Luseno, Simon Muhuga, Paul Njogu, Boniface Otieno, Elkana Njeru and Fredrick Thuku (Constables) were charged alongside John Wanjiku Macharia, (NIS) and Michael Kiplangat, (KWS).
The case will be mentioned on March 20, 2025, for directions, including a ruling date on bail and bond application.
