Central Organisation of Trade Union secretary General Francis Atwoli has made a U turn over plans to sue Martha Karua over her choice of purple colour for the rebranded party.
This comes a day after Karua unveiled the People's Liberation Party (PLP) with a touch of purple which Atwoli said clashed with that of Cotu.
Even so, Atwoli said after consultations, he decided not to drag the matter to court citing that the union was bigger than political parties.
“We have a letter of patent to that and after consultation we thought that if we pursue the matter, we will seriously build Martha Karua for nothing,” Atwoli noted.

The secretary general noted that the Union is bigger than political parties citing that Cotu is represented locally and internationally.
“Some people have tried using the purple colours like Maendeleo Chap-chap and but did not succeed that much, I also feel that Martha Karua’s party will not be popular thus there was no need of wasting time in court,” added Atwoli.
During the launch of PLP, Karua said she is not only rebranding to have a new look but also renewing commitment to fight, unite and liberate Kenyans in addition to standing with other leaders.
Adding that the new party intension is to accomplish the task of liberating Kenyans, which cannot be achieved by one person or political party.
“You may wonder how we are going to do this, I have expressed my wish to run for presidency, so has Kalonzo and several others have that ambition and everybody is worthy, every dream is valid but we have to put Kenya first, it is important for any of us,” she said.
Karua added that each one of them with this ambition must subordinate their interests to those of the nation and whoever selected as a candidate through a transparent method to be devised, they will all queue behind that one person.
