Police probing a hit-and-run fatal accident by presidential convoy

Police have launched an investigation into a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of an elderly foreign national at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road on Thursday.
According to witnesses and authorities, the victim was using a zebra crossing when he was struck by a motorist in a presidential convoy who failed to stop after the incident.
In a statement, Police Spokesman Michael Muchiri confirmed that investigators are handling the case.
“Following a road traffic accident that occurred today at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road involving a government vehicle, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian who is a foreign national, the National Police Service (NPS) is now handling the matter, and investigations have commenced,” Muchiri stated.
The accident caused a major traffic snarl-up along the busy highway as emergency responders and police attended to the scene.

Authorities have urged members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have relevant information to come forward.
“We encourage anyone with information that may assist with the investigation to report to the nearest police station or through our toll-free numbers: 999, 911, 112, and #FichuakwaDCI 0800 722 203,” the police statement read.
The National Police Service has also called on motorists, pedestrians, and other road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
