Kindiki: Being a 'yes' man is part of my job

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has continued to tell off critics who have labeled him as President Ruto’s ‘yes’ man.
Speaking in Siakago, Kindiki reiterated that his job as the Deputy President is to say yes to the President’s remarks and demands.
He added that if he wanted to complain, he would be in the opposition, as that is their sole role.
“You cannot be in government and start speaking like you are in the opposition. It's been six months in office—have you seen me complaining? No. You have to put in the work and push for development on behalf of the people.”
“The job description of the deputy president is to say yes, and whoever doesn’t like it should leave... the role of opposing the president is in the opposition, and that’s why you see we don’t have a problem with them. But for us who are in government, our job and duty is to say yes.”

According to the DP, the ‘yes’ narrative not only applies to him but also to ministers and everyone in government.
Adding that anyone who is not ready to defend the president and the government should leave and join the opposition.
“You cannot be a minister and instead of helping the people understand how far the government has reached in its projects, you come here to cry and incite people against the government,” said Kindiki.
His remarks come amid growing calls urging him to hold the President accountable, rather than agreeing to everything he says or does.
