Shock gripped Koromboi village in Kitengela, Kajiado county, on Tuesday following the murder of a five-year-old boy who had been reported missing for seven days.
The body of Brighton Olala, a grade one pupil, was found stuffed in a sack and placed on the roof of a mabati house with multiple injuries.
According to her grandmother Pauline Namai, the boy had travelled from their rural village in Western Kenya, but later disappeared from home. His parents made a report at the Isinya Police station.
Information about the missing boy was circulated through social media and other news outlets.
News of the incident provoked area residents, who staged a demonstration in protest.

The protestors barricaded the Nairobi-Namanga Road for hours before anti-riot police officers from the nearby Kitengela police intervened to calm the situation.
Isinya Sub County police boss Patrick Manyasi, who spoke to The Standard on phone, confirmed the incident, terming it as satanic.
''It's true that my officers who rushed to the scene found the body wrapped in a sack with multiple injuries, we already have two suspects with us, one being a woman, who is the owner of the house where the body was found, and his son.'' Manyasi said.
The officer said the two will be arraigned once investigations are completed.
