Autopsy: How Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau were killed

A postmortem report has revealed that two abduction victims, Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau died from multiple abdominal and chest injuries caused by a blunt object and strangulation.

The findings were made public by Government Pathologist Richard Njoroge on Wednesday, February 5.

Njoroge revealed that DNA analysis was yet to be conducted for the biological identification of the two bodies, despite the police using fingerprints for identification.

“There were multiple abdominal, chest, head injuries and defense injuries on the arms...it looks like they were strangled. The second body had scalp injuries, a posterior abdominal wall, and thoracic injuries,” said Njoroge.

He said that the bodies were seriously decomposed though they identified injuries on the neck showing a sign of neck compression and a bleeding thorax from the blunt object beatings.

The pathologist added that the families are now expected to assist with the scientific identification of the bodies.

Mutumwa and Mwau were abducted on December 16, 2024, alongside Karani Muema who’s still missing. The three were friends.

Steven Kavingo alias Mbisi was abducted the following day from his Kathangaita home in Mlolongo.

The bodies of the two men were later found on January 29 at the City Mortuary, Nairobi.
