Kibiwott Kandie, once celebrated as the world half-marathon record holder, has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) due to a violation of anti-doping regulations.
The AIU has charged the 28-year-old with “evading, refusing, or failing to submit to sample collection...”
Kandie, who claimed the world record with a stunning time of 57:32 in Valencia back in 2020, now finds himself amid serious allegations of evading drug testing protocols.

At the beginning of this year, he kicked off his season with a victory at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Cross Country Championships 10KM race.
He also played a vital role in leading the Kenyan team to gold in the senior men’s race at the World Cross Country Championships held in Bathurst in 2023.
