West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka has asked Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo to account for billions of shillings allocated to the county for the last five years.
Mogaka claimed that there was little to show in terms of development during.
The lawmaker accused the governor of fueling divisions that are being witnessed in the Nyamira County Assembly.
Addressing Journalists at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, Mogaka asked the governor to concentrate on his mandate of running the Executive and keep off the affairs of the County Assembly which currently has split into two rival groups.
“Governor Nyaribo got his seat when the late governor John Nyagarama passed on in December 2020, the people of Nyamira gave him a chance to serve them again during the August 2022 General Election, unfortunately there are very little gains,” he claimed.
The MP alleged that Nyamira residents are not happy with Nyaribo’s leadership style and that it was time to pull up his socks to secure his legacy having served as Deputy Governor since 2013 before being elevated to governorship.
Mogaka challenged the governor to join hands with other leaders to resolve the differences rocking the County Assembly where each rival camp has their own Speaker.
“The least we expect from governor Nyaribo is for him to deliver on his mandate and ensure that he is not part and parcel of wrangles currently being witnessed in the Nyamira County Assembly following the ouster of the Speaker,” he said.
The MP said Nyamira residents are not happy with the happenings in the county and would punish those who have failed to deliver their mandate come the 2027 General Election.
